The Venice, Fla., Coin and Currency Club has elected its 2009 officers. Winners have been named in the Waukesha, Wis., Coin Club young numismatist contest. More than 65 members of New Jersey’s Ocean County Coin Club attended its annual holiday social event Dec 4. at the Ocean Fire House in Point Pleasant Beach. The Fort Worth Coin Club elected its 2009 officers at its monthly meeting Nov. 6, it was reported in the December issue of the electronic newsletter Fort Worth Coin Club News. Paul R. Johnson, executive secretary of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association, was a speaker at the Ninth Annual Educational Symposium of the California State Numismatic Association, hosted by the Vallejo Numismatic Society, Oct. 25-26. Neil Osina, board member for the Covina, Calif., Coin Club, designed and produced a medal last year for the club’s 50th anniversary. The Verdugo Hills Coin Club of California hosted its first ANA Night during its Nov. 11 meeting. The American Numismatic Association is calling on its members to provide the theme for its 86th annual National Coin Week, set for April 19-25. Zachary Beier, a member of the Ocean County, N.J., Coin Club, received the Derek Pobjoy Award for Best Exhibit of Modern World Commemorative Coins from American Numismatic Association District Representative Jim Majoros at an October club meeting. The Sarasota, Fla., Coin Show was held Oct. 24-26 at the historic Sarasota Municipal Auditorium along Sarasota Bay. It is jointly sponsored by the Sarasota and Manatee Coin Clubs. |
